When Roger Show, President of Peacock Trading, Inc., founded the company in 1987, even he could not dream of where the journey would take us. The company had its beginning in commodities as a cash livestock broker and wholesaler, booking loads of pork for packers and processors. From this start in the agricultural business, Peacock Trading expanded into the growing futures and commodities markets, providing hedging and price risk reduction services to those packers and processors. As commodities began to enter the investment mainstream, Peacock Trading began offering these services to individual investors as well.
TRADING FUTURES AND OPTIONS INVOLVES SUBSTANTIAL RISK OF LOSS AND IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ALL INVESTORS. PAST PERFORMANCE IS NOT NECESSARILY INDICATIVE OF FUTURE RESULTS.
Today, most of Peacock Trading’s business is in the speculative futures and commodities markets. Although we still handle the cash pork brokerage business, the company’s focus is now on services to individual investors– both those already experienced in futures trading and those who see futures trading as a potential opportunity for alternative investments and portfolio diversification. We are a full-service futures brokerage.

Roger Show, president and founder of Peacock Trading, Inc., has over 25 years experience in commodities, mainly in livestock. After graduating from the University of Illinois with a BA in Economics in 1982, he was accepted into an innovative management training program with Swift Independent Meat Packer. The intensive 18-month program taught business graduates every facet of operating the agricultural side of the business, from buying hogs to boning hams. After completing the program, Roger worked at Swift’s corporate headquarters in Chicago as product manager in charge of pricing all the company’s major cuts of meat.
Roger gained tremendous experience in futures by taking the helm of Swift’s first cross-basis hedging program. Under his leadership, the program refrigerated millions of pounds of pork products prior to hedging inventory in the futures markets. By employing historical pricing and industry-wide statistics, he achieved his intended goal – to profit when pork-cut pricing got out of line with the futures markets.
When Roger established Peacock Trading, Inc., in 1987, he relied on his valuable experience in futures at Swift and on what he learned through a 1985 to 1987 commodity trading position with a large global exporter of meat products. In 1989, Peacock Trading Inc. became registered as an IB, with Roger as an Associated Person and principal of Peacock Trading and LCTA.
Roger is the father of 2 children, Rose and Roger. When he's not trading in the commodities market, you'll find him enjoying the outdoors while fishing, boating, or golfing.
